Hillary Rodham was born in Chicago, Illinois. Her involvement with the community began early in life. As a young girl she belonged to the Girl Scouts, was active in student government, and helped coordinate food drives. She attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts and graduated with honors in 1969. She went on to graduate from Yale Law School in 1973. A fellow student at Yale was Bill Clinton. One of the roles she took on before marrying the future Governor of Arkansas and President of the United States was that of an attorney for the Children's Defense Fund. In Arkansas she taught for the law faculty at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
As First Lady of Arkansas she was very busy. Her daughter Chelsea was born in 1980 and she was also involved with many organizations including the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families which she founded, the Arkansas Education Standards Committee, the Arkansas Children's Hospital, and the Board of Directors of the Legal Services Corporation in Washington, D.C. She also was a full-time partner of a law firm.
Hillary Rodham Clinton became the First Lady of the United States in 1992. She chaired the President's Task Force on National Health Care Reform. She currently serves in the United State Senate representing New York.
