EWILDA GERTRUDE MILLER ROBINSON
Wife of Joseph Taylor Robinson, 23rd Governor (January 1913)

Born:
Died: August 7, 1958
Children: none
Original Home: Lonoke, Arkansas

This world traveler held the position of First Lady for only a short period. Joseph Taylor Robinson took the oath of office as Governor on January 16, 1913. On January 28, 1913, he was elected to the United States Senate. He held both positions until March 10, 1913, when he resigned as Governor. He served as a United States Senator until his death in July 1937.

When Senator Robinson died his widow was left with no source of income because there were no pensions or retirement plans for Senators at that time. All that remained of the world traveling lifestyle that she and her husband had led was their large home at 2122 Broadway. Following her husband's death, she served as postmistress of Little Rock for fifteen years.
