Making Your Mark: Voting & Citizenship in Arkansas

The Old State House Museum and the Arkansas State Capitol are offering a progressive tour option to interested school and youth groups throughout Arkansas. Through lessons and role-play sessions, this program provides students a look at how the privileges of citizenship and voting have changed from territorial times all the way up to the present. Students will receive an "identity" based on historic demographics that they will carry through to the end of the tour.

The tour begins at 10 a.m. at the Old State House Museum and will conclude about 12:30 pm at the Arkansas State Capitol. The tour schedule allows for travel time between each site but does not include a lunch break.

Program Requirements:

  • Open to students grades 5-7.
  • This program is offered the first and third Wednesdays of each month throughout the school year.
  • Reservations ARE required and will be taken on a first come, first served basis.
  • Tour times are locked in at each site and CANNOT be changed.

All tour reservations MUST be made through the Old State House Museum. For more information about this program or to make a reservation, please contact Rachael Jordan-Johnson at the Old State House Museum.
